  •  I don't know WHO to thank ... (10+ / 0-)

but I will start  xaxnar.  Thank you for this diary!

I watched An Adventure in Space and Time last night.  Great show, but a bit bittersweet. So, I will say thank you Sydney Newman, Verity Lambert, and Waris Hussein.  From a review of the show:

Ultimately, the lesson was that “no-one is irreplaceable”. Hussein and Lambert moved onto pastures new. Hartnell’s physical decline was tenderly portrayed but prompted Newman to hit upon the idea of the Doctor regenerating. In a lip-wobbling final scene, Hartnell sobbed, “I don’t want to go!” - a deliberate echo of Tennant’s touching farewell 44 years later. Wonderfully written and beautifully realised, this period piece crackled with the affection of a true fan. A warm glow radiated from the screen and bathed the viewer in TV magic. Bravo. Now for Saturday's main event.

And, thank you William Hartnell and all the other Doctors past, present, and future.
