    terribly deep and poetic - partly because that's exactly what they expect. Reverence gets in the way of real wonder.

    There are some good scenes and speeches in Hamlet, but it's stuck on this petard of being "the greatest play", like the Mona Lisa is "the greatest painting". If it were just another Shakespeare play, it might be easier to watch.
