what public is getting and using from the Gasland entertainment workproduct are not facts or valid environmental engineering, public health and medical information.

I've been trying to get the Sierra Club to excise the anti-science activity that is constituted by the Club's reliance on using the Gasland movies as "educational" information with the inherent implied endorsement that the claims and depictions of the movie are correct when they are not.

The Sierra Club was formerly headed by Carl Pope, who was a national expert on air pollution control and the Federal Clean Air Act.  Pope's leadership was directly instrumental in defeating all of those new coal plant proposals during the Bush years and many of the existing coal plant retirements that have taken place since.

We live in a world where the most important sustainability decisions for humanity will be air pollution control and energy generation decisions made directly under, or because of the direct effect of, the Federal Clean Air Act.
While this fact should be manifestly obvious to everyone, apparently the national board of directors of the Sierra Club thought it would be a good idea to hire a science 'light-weight' as SC executive director with no background at all on air pollution control, the Federal Clean Air Act and without an operating understanding of environmental science.   When 'personnel means policy' this Sierra Club executive director selection decision by the national Sierra Club board I view [as a 24 year member and volunteer] as irresponsible by the SC national board.
