  •  Comparison can be taken two ways... (0+ / 0-) of those ways is the suggestion that the ACA website foul up was as big of a disaster as Hurricane Katrina or the Bay of Pigs debacle.  That is obviously ridiculous, which hasn't stopped Republicans from pushing these idiotic comparisons.

That said, the other interpretation is to look at the political effect of the botched Katrina response, which essentially killed any perception of Bush as a man who "gets things done" and who will "keep America safe" -- both messages that were central to his presidency (even though they were both nonsense).  That argument applied to the ACA is that by botching the website rollout, Obama has killed his perception as being a smart and competent.  That comparison actually does have some validity...and is a good one to not ignore.  Mind you, unlike the Katrina response, Obama has the opportunity to fix this website after the fact and so he has more of a chance to recover from the political hit that has resulted.

make this president look incompetent or stupid if one stands on one's head to find him entirely responsible for the design if a website.  He's taken responsibility because he believes the buck stops with him, but he's also done something about it's failure and millions of people are benefitting as a result.  Blowing things out of proportion to denigrate this president is getting so BORING, and this latest Bay of Pigs comparison is just pathetic.

This president is going to overcome these latest personal attacks and just get that much stronger.  Americans don't like these attacks.  They're too obviously just that.  They are not based on substance and they quickly fade away because they are not working.

      Best. President. Ever.
