the "blood thinner"  was preventing "break off blood clots" from the Tumor -- that could cause a life-ending stroke.

Can't have that -- "let nature take its course" was the new rule.

The "eating therapy would have benefited your mother"

in her Quality of Life -- ie "enjoying the time she had left."

I eventually found a food she could eat normally

-- soft-serve ice cream (Dairy Queen style).

    She absolutely loved it.

It gave her one small measure of normalcy and pleasure, in turbulent sea of increasing pain.

No thanks to the "official" care-providers, if I must say.

Your mom's story is yet another example of how we fail people at the end of their lives.

A terminal diagnosis shouldn't mean we figuratively abandon someone on an ice floe.

jamess, I'll remember your story about soft-serve ice cream as a recommendation for others dealing with dying parents. A week before his father died, Mr. Fang realized he needed to fly down for a visit. Fang Jr., wanting to do something, baked cookies and put them in the car so Mr. Fang would find them on the way to the airport. My father-in-law had stopped eating, more or less, but he did enjoy one of the cookies. Even very ill elderly people sometimes like sweets.
