    It is a very difficult needle to thread, but I do believe it needs to happen. Somewhere between mandatory home inspections and 100% autonomy for the parent/teacher, a middle ground can surely exist.

    I agree in theory with the concept of home-schooling. Certainly, if I ever had children of my own and that was a viable option for me I would probably consider it. But I would think that for my own peace of mind, I would prefer to have the school district at least partially involved to ensure that my children were meeting or exceeding the standards of their peers.

    I guess I don't have much to add to this particular conversation, but I hope a lively discussion ensues because it is an issue that I am quite torn on.

    P.S. I am not a crackpot.

      If you username means you are in Idaho, here is a summary of the laws for hsers in your state --

      Each state handles hsing laws differently.

      But, generally, you can find as much supervision as you want. If you want more than the law requires, that is not a problem. You can always find someone willing to sell you curriculum, testing, oversight, etc.
