    But we live in an imperfect world. Unfortunately, some children are abused by their parents, no matter how they are schooled.

    We do need to fund our state and county budgets amply so that any suspected problem can be investigated.

    Here in FL, the DCF does a wonderful (yes, there are exceptions), thankless and underfunded job.

    Unfortunately, too much of their time is wasted by the little old person who lives down the block who sees your kids out during "schools hours". The DCF is required to check that the kids are properly registered/enrolled. They do and then they can get back to the cases where they are really needed. But it's still a waste of time and resources, underfunded resources at that, when someone doesn't understand hsing and thinks that anything other than public schools warrants a call to DCF.
