    was frequently fed to me when I was a lad, and I grew to hate it. Ridiculously over-salted; slimy noodles; "chunks" of chicken that could only be identified with an electron microscope; manufactured under appaling conditions that would have made Upton Sinclair gag.

    This turned me off all soups for many years, until I had soups in Europe and artisanal cooking was rediscovered in parts of the US.
