I didn't need a car.  Between MUNI and BART public transportation took me anywhere I needed to go and I didn't have to hassle with parking.

When I moved to Kansas City, wow, what a difference.  If I wanted to take a bus here I'd have to walk half a mile to the closest stop and the lines are really limited.  Have to have a car here.  It's too bad because I'm so used to a decent public transit service.

This doesn't make me a limousine liberal, it makes me a resident of a city that's massive in size (believe it or not, the city limits of KC are huge) and without a decent transit plan, although light rail is coming fairly soon - primarily downtown, where it won't help me.
