I'd like to see the studies that show prevention saves money.

Understand, I believe we should support preventative health care in any event, because it's the right thing to do. But I have not seen studies that show a financial benefit, and I have frequently read health care economists, including left-leaning health care economists, state that studies have failed to demonstrate that prevention saves money.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation looked at the evidence, and concluded:

"Given that so few preventive services save money and that these services are already in wide use, it is unlikely that prevention can reduce health care spending. The authors question whether the emphasis on savings is appropriate and suggest it is better to focus on high value preventive care, taking into account increased longevity and quality of life."

among people who do not have health insurance nor the income to purchase the services on their own. People who have not been to the doctor in years.  People who cannot afford to buy the medicine/supplies they need to manage their conditions.
