    My own family has similar stories as well, your story was a reminder for me about those stories. I always find it amazing how the depression families supported each other, my own father as a teenager would deliver telegrams all over the Denver area sometimes riding as far as Golden every day, he was paid $12 month and gave $10 back to his family, saving only enough to repair tires and maybe buying an occasional soda. When I look at old photos of his family it makes me tear up at how hard they really had things...tiny thin dresses, no socks, younger siblings always dressed in hand me downs.
