The first part of that response was directed to FG, and the second part, to MM. 8^P

What I want to know is, who's going to pay for these crimes against humanity that those b@st@rds are perpetrating against the rest of us?

    •  And so the second part (4+ / 0-)

is even responding to the wrong diary! I'm obviously not having one of my better nights!

Let's try this: When I was five, my great-grandmother, my father's mother's mother, passed away. My parents took me to the nursing home where she was, to visit her, shortly before she died. I remember the place being dark, with a long row of beds, and we walked along the row, until we came to the one my great-granny was in. I didn't recognize her and I remember saying, "That's not my gramma!" I was pretty freaked out. I was NOT taken to her funeral! It was undoubtedly clear to my parents and relatives, based on my response to the nursing home, that I wasn't prepared to handle that. Of course, a great-grandmother, not seen very often, is a different thing from a father! But it's hard to know what the right thing to do is, with a young child. I think we all do the best we know how, at the time, and there's little to be gained from second-guessing ourselves, years later.

Hugs and best wishes to all!
