is the only one that is somewhat persuasive (to me) as to why Obama's polling might have to value. However, mtigating that is the fact that so much of the Midterms relies on the quality of candidates. Then there is the factor of LOCAL issues. Finally, as you point out there is now the facotr of gerrymandering, so many districts have a winner built in.

Finally, to support my argument about the irrelevance of polls for Obama, they shift rather dramatically. What is numbers will be in Oct 2014 could be quite different from today (thus his current numbers mean little). Despite the naysayers: the ACA could be cranking successfully...Iran might have a strong permanent deal...we WILL be mostly out of Afghanistan, at least for combat operations...and there could be some positive legislation on such things as immigration and the budget. At any rate, the only relevant polls in my mid are those that might be close to the midterms; and I am quite sure they will not matter at all in 2016 when the Dems will highlight Obama achievments and the right will continue to blast away at how our country is in decline. then it will be up to the historians to decide how effective was the Obama presidency
