I hope your wife is doing better!

I am constantly full of admiration watching the nurses and staff in my ER.... Their dedication to the work is inspiring, in the face of such troubles as short staffing, insufficient equipment, angry and sometimes abusive patients, and sometimes physical danger.  In fact, the only time in my life that I'm been seriously hit was in the ER, got sucker punched in the ribs by a mentally ill patient.  Really hurt. And that isn't a rare event!

It must take super-human patience to deal with the abusive patients, especially the substance abusers.  And they certainly show up in all ERs, including in prosperous hospitals located in prosperous suburbs.  I was astounded at some of the stuff I saw and heard when I was there with my mother.
