  •  I really wish there was better visibility (6+ / 0-)

for how previous bills can prevent someone from getting help later on.

Heck, even just following medical orders from the visits that led to the bills. I know someone who learned the hard way how hard it is to go gluten-free while laboring under the billing from the sorts of tests that let you know you HAVE to go gluten-free. So, testing billing plus complication billing equals ever lowering chances of success.

If this person had medical coverage from the first visit onward? There wouldn't be complications and there WOULD have been lifestyle changes.

    •  Right now we are carrying a $180 bill at the (4+ / 0-)

      orthopedic center.

They do everything orthopedic. Break your leg? They'll splint it in the ER, give you a vicodin, and say, "Go to the Orthopedic Center to get it casted."

It's a separate business. Not the hospital.

Before Bear can get seen about his shoulder...or I can get seen about my foot, or my ankles....We've got to pay them off.

So while it would be wonderful to go and find out exactly what sort of surgery I need on the worse of the two ankles, I can't.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.
