We tend to all hear what we wish or what we're ready to hear. Papal warnings against consumerism and the tyranny of unchecked capitalism are not new to this one and it's likely that he considers who we all call the typical American working poor as tyrants and polluters of the world through over consumption and greed. The smoothing out of prosperity to the world's poor is a message to all Americans from top to bottom of the income spectrum.   Nevertheless, each soul in the pews - CEOs and politicians sitting shoulder to shoulder with teachers, struggling homemakers, and laborers - has the quiet time necessary to force at least a minute or two of authentic introspection within which what they choose to hear from this pope's framing will guide.
