If your memory serves you well, and you are old enough, you will remember the thing referred to as Communism, which probably should have been more accurately called Leninism.

One of the things that the west loved ridiculing about the economy of the Soviet Union was the obsession of having the biggest of everything. They wanted to have the world's biggest department store, the world's biggest steel mill, the world's biggest truck factory. We'd laugh at that, and the pride they took in this bigness, oblivious of the fact that they had an economy that perpetuated misery for the masses.

Well, it's appears that our capitalism is doing precisely that for us. We see the images of New Capitalist Person, going to One Big Store, and buy lots of junk cheap junk, that will make them happy, and make them forget that the American dream has become a dream deferred.

Instead of having May Day to celebrate the achievements of the October Revolution, we have Christmas to celebrate our alleged plenty.

Just another underemployed IT professional computer geek.
