  •  Thanksgiving for 2 (12+ / 0-)

It was only my husband and myself.
We prefer it that way, especially this year, since my husband was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be having surgery in January.
It was caught early - he's stage 6 on the Gleason Scale and the surgeon said that that was an excellent reading and that his rate for cure is nearly 100%.
Still, it's scary business but we are doing a good job at not talking about it and focusing on the holidays.
There will be time enough to worry come January 1st.

All of my in-laws are big drinkers and that always brings so much drama.
The drinking starts at breakfast and then goes on all through the day, with dinner served late, and then well into the night.
It's impossible to have any type of conversation and there is a lot of obnoxious drama, so we have learned the last two years to skip family get-togethers.
Honestly, they can't miss us, but jeepers, even politely declining causes drama.
His family is unaware of his cancer, and that is his choice and when things are taken care of, he will notify his brothers and urge them to have their prostates checked.
He'll most likely do it through email because of their drinking.
It is very difficult to talk to people when they're drinking and it's very difficult to catch them sober.
Drama and drinking do not mix!

Anyway, we had a pleasant Thanksgiving with turkey and the fixings and watching football and best of all - no drama!
