  •  The day after is NOT a holiday! (0+ / 0-)

Thanksgiving is a holiday that all Americans ought to have time off to enjoy. Got that. But UPS provides what many of us would consider to be an essential service and taking  what amounts to a mini-vacation and leaving many people without that service is just not OK.

Case in point. I am a disabled woman who does not drive. I order all of my pet supplies--including food and medicine for my very frail 17 year old dog, from online retailers. For two years my order has shipped on Wednesday (the day I can afford it: the day my Social Security check goes in the bank) and arrived Friday. This year I assumed it would be a day late and arrive Saturday because--Well, even UPS gets Thanksgiving off. By extending themselves an extra long weekend my pets went without food and medicine for two days. That is not OK.

I am sure many other people count on UPS to deliver things other than Christmas gifts. The day after Thanksgiving--like the day after any holiday--is NOT a holiday. It's time America came to terms with the fact that in order to get a paycheck they need to work.

I have no choice in what delivery service retailers use. But when I do have a choice from now on it will be Fed Ex or the good old USPS.

just because someone has something you don't have is no reason to take it away from them. You should work on getting the same thing.
