There's nothing wrong with creating a product that provides enjoyment to people, and making a shit ton of money in the process. The beef I have with NFL teams is that they extort cities and counties into subsidizing their operations.

They should pay for their own damn stadiums.

Politicians should refuse to play the game with them. I give a lot of credit to the city of Atlanta, and Fulton County. The Braves were demanding the city pay for a new stadium or significant renovations, and Atlanta said no. They said the stadium you have is less than 20 years old, and we have bigger issues we need to deal with. Braves took their ball and went to Cobb County, and Cobb County agreed to subsidize them. Even though CC is laying off teachers and workers.

Fine. Let them move. It's 2013. People have HDTVs and can buy the MLB.TV app for $99 a year. The sense of civic pride you get from having a local team isn't worth the price these teams are demanding.

    •  true on all counts, but (0+ / 0-)

I have a beef with college football teams that exploit players, take away their holidays and don't even pay them.
