I wouldn't suggest prosecution and punishment if they weren't doing something wrong.  Fail.

If cutting Social Security & Medicare benefits for low income seniors is what Democrats do after they win a budget standoff, I'd hate to see what they do after they lose one.

Your criticism of the GOP is implied; your criticism of Dems is emphatically spelled out.  In any case, your equate the failure of Dems for not more quickly prosecuting an action that has happened within the past two weeks (despite the CA-AGs earlier prosecutions of similar actions) with the GOP's spectacularly repulsive crime.

      I'm satisfied with a "fail."

This is patently criminal behavior.  Its called fraud and worse, fraud, a felony, has been committed at taxpayer expense.  The system will never change until those in high places face the same kind of swift justice that they dole out to the average citizen.

        •  What "excuses"? (1+ / 0-)

Do you think an investigation into, and successful prosecution of, fraud could be that quick, especially when the potential targets are in political office with some ability to evade not just questioning but even simple knowledge of the whole thing? You think anyone higher up than this Lockhart person has any of their fingerprints on it?
          Come on.

        •  Ummmm - civil fraud investigations usually take (0+ / 0-)

months and sometimes years... I presume you do know that.  The "justice" may be swift once its initiated, but the investigations leading up to such justice are exhaustive.  Politically that's true too - 6 of Governor Walker's cronies who were guilty of various campaign related crimes went to prison for fairly long sentences, but only were arrested after an investigation lasting what?  Over a year.  Now "son of doe" in WI looks like it will net more.  Why would Cali be different?  It's the way justice works.  The wheels grind slowly in cases where there isn't an egregious crime like murder, but they grind sure.
