  •  Hypocrisy of Old and New Media with unpaid interns (9+ / 0-)

and politicians with unpaid interns criticizing Walmat and fast food for not paying above minimum wage and calling for a higher minimum wage.

If a business or non-profit has unpaid interns, it is treating workers worse than Walmart and fast food.

We should be telling these businesses and non-profits, "If you can't afford to pay minimum wage, you don't have a position to offer."  If they say the intern gains valuable training, we should remind them it is the responsibility of business to train its workers when it hires people without the needed training, and to pay these workers while they train.

Media companies with unpaid interns should at least have a disclaimer in articles when writing about the injustice of workers making the current minimum wage (or slightly more) telling their readers "While Walmart pays their lowest compensated workers minimum wage, we pay our lowest nothing."

The most important way to protect the environment is not to have more than one child.
