    That when automated cars are approved, I expect more delivery to be done by ground based drones rather than air-based.  Send a truck with package delivery bots to a neighborhood, release the bots, let them deliver then collect the bots.

      I agree that your Aircraft Carrier(tm) model might get you the best of both worlds, in that that common portion of the trip could be in a comparatively efficient truck and the last mile done by a bunch of drones heading off directly to the final destination.

      However, this was presented as a just-in-time delivery method, where I don't have to wait for my package to be bundled up with a bunch of others and delivered on a schedule. I see this as sort of like FedEx vs. a courier service; both have their uses, with different cost/benefit tradeoffs.

      In any case, my diary was not intended to be a discussion of the drones themselves but of the shoddy reporting about them. Thanks for the comments!
