Like Elizabeth Warren and thousands of others have been saying we need to expand the social safety net , not cut it.

We need to get creative and make it so.

    •  Poverty is relative (0+ / 0-)

People in Texas and America who are classified as poverty, in general, are not starving and the article does not even allude to that.

Poverty in America is definitely real and there are some extreme cases, but starving children is not the norm.

      •  There are some who would not eat if not for (4+ / 0-)

schools lunches and those schools who serve breakfast too.

There are stories of kids who do not eat all weekend as the family ran out of food.

Food stamps are being cut along with food pantries not havnig enough to go around.

At least you have to admit, huge numbers of children are going without proper nutrition, some are malnourished and there are kids going to bed hungry.

      •  WTF (3+ / 0-)

Speaking as someone among many who did indeed starve as a child in America, I contend that you don't actually have a clue what you're talking about. There are some areas in this country where a huge number of people are indeed going hungry, and a great portion of them are children.

        •  I have a clue (0+ / 0-)

I lived in poverty and if you see my IRS statements, I still do.

I never starved as a child and I don't at the moment.

It's nice to say I care about starving people, but the reality is it's EXTREMELY difficult to find them.
