...your question.  It just seemed too non-sequiter, anyway:

You do know that everyone is subjected to a certain amount of radiation over their lifetime both from natural things and from unnatural things...?

Is this a serious question?  If so, I'd say yes, of course; but I would quarrel with the words "certain amount."  Far from being certain, I think it is highly questionable, variable rather than certain; and that is what we are debating here.

First my apologies if the question wasn't obvious but it's hardly a non sequiter. I have no knowledge of what you do and do not know. I find in such situations that the most logical, efficient, practical and conducive to a meaningful exchange is to establish what one does and does not know.

And in point of fact I am sorry but there's nothing questionable about background radiation. It's easy to measure and it's a bedrock of how both exposure and radioactive related science works. You honestly might as well question if the sky is truly blue as challenge the quantifiable nature of background radiation.

Second we are not really debating background radiation the question at hand is Fukushama's radiation being transfer to the West coast in a manner that is harmful to the populace? And the answer right now is no but we should obviously continue to monitor the situation. And as such one needs to understand what background radiation is in order to really answer that question because honestly finding absolutely no radiation in these studies would be more terrifying then anything else.
