  •  Its at least a small positive step, but its just (0+ / 0-)

about the smallest possible step. Which sadly goes to show the sad state of our nation. There is absolutely no conceivable reason why we can't use public initiative to invest $100 billion a year in clean, renewable energy. This type of public purpose is beneficial for everyone, it provides income to the private sector and makes the planet healthier. And the only reason why we don't make smart investments in ourselves like this is the outdated notion of Government financing. Our collective national federal budget is not like a household budget. The US dollar comes from the US Govt, or from us. Its our money, we can't run out. The only restriction is inflation and certainly nobody could seriously make the argument that $100 billion in new spending will be too inflationary.

    •  I was thinking more along the lines of $300B, (0+ / 0-)

aka half the war budget. Bring (most of) our soldiers home from overseas and train them to construct and install renewable energy generation.
