    property rights. Had to be, otherwise some humans could not have been considered property.
    For that matter, juveniles are still considered the property of their parents in the law. If their parents do not insist on their rights, the children are likely to be deprived. If the parents do object, the children are liable to being removed and placed in foster care, where the caretakers are paid to look after them.
    Why don't we, like Canada, just give each mother a stipend when she gives birth? That would make too much sense. Besides, how can obedience be coerced, if not by the threat of starvation. "No free lunch" has to be validated from time to time.
