    in the idea that if one of the State Reps ran that would put the seat in jeopardy. Hackett's seat (HD-161) in particular would instantly become heavily in play. The state house majority for them is fairly safe but if there's some larger thinking about not risking the House seat to try and save a Senate seat that leans away from them that would actually be reasonable.

      But the state representatives don't think the open state senate race is worth the risk. It's telling - they think they would be the underdog in the race.

      The state house is just as likely to flip as the state senate. Democrats needs to pick up 10 seats in a body of 201.
