    that this sort of dual-purpose agency wasn't that great of an idea. So back in 1974 the old AEC was split up into the Department of Energy/ERDA for promotion, and the NRC for regulation.

    It didn't take long at all for the NRC to be industry-captured. It's been there ever since.

      The industry logically wants both propaganda and captive regulators.  Splitting the roles into different agencies must meant at least 50% more money for the same boolicking.

      Domestic politics is the continuation of civil war by other means.
