  •  Dumbya's being protected... (25+ / 0-)

... by Obama, first of all, and by Obama's DoJ & Pentagon personnel who are almost all Bushista appointees or hired by the Bushista administration.  Since Obama has continued Dumbya & Dickie's policies and wars and war crimes (and added to theirs by increasing drone strikes), that makes Obama a war criminal, too.  At this point, Obama can't support any war crimes trials for Bush because Obama did not change a damned thing regarding the Bushista policies once he got into office.  Supporting war crimes trials would open up Obama to being tried for the same things.

    This is cozy, don'tcha think?

Obama, Bush fly together to memorial for Mandela
    [More at link.]
ON BOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Reuters) - President Barack Obama brought former President George W. Bush with him to Africa on Monday to attend a memorial for Nelson Mandela in a high-profile show of American respect for the man who vanquished white-minority rule in South Africa.
At his side will be his immediate predecessor, Bush, a Republican, as well as Democratic former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. The only surviving former president not traveling was Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, who is 89.

On board Air Force One for the cross-Atlantic flight to Africa were Obama, his wife, Michelle; Bush and his wife, Laura; and Hillary Clinton, who was Obama's first secretary of state and who is contemplating her own run for the presidency in 2016.

In 2007, after the other "frontrunner candidates" had already declared they didn't support impeachment or investigation into the war crimes (all of which they'd voted in favor of when Dumbya & Dickie were in power, as well as voting for the illegal and unconstitutional crap that took our rights away), I was waiting to read/see/hear Obama's position.  This is the article that made up my mind not to support Obama's candidacy:
    Obama: Impeachment is not acceptable

Two weeks after that article, Bill Moyers interviewed John Nichols and Bruce Fein on 13 July 2007 regarding impeachment of Dumbya and Dickie.  Fein was so enthusiastic about impeaching both Dumbya and Dickie he starts spluttering at one point because he couldn't get his words out fast enough.  Pay attention, also, to Nichols' metaphor of presidential powers kept in the little cherry wood box....

So, unless we finally elect a president who actually abides by his oath of office to uphold the US Constitution, nothing will be done in my lifetime (I'm old) to investigate or put on trial the perpetrators of war crimes and perjury who were in office when all of these illegal, unconstitutional, immoral, unethical, and dishonorable crimes were committed - both against people against foreign countries and the resulting denial of our own rights which were taken away and have NOT yet been restored to us.

    •  Impeachment??! Can't have that! Not even for War (5+ / 0-)

Criminals. Why not? Well, lately it's come up again that "frontrunner candidates-" and John Edwards in particular- think that it
shuts down all business on the Hill.

We are all pupils in the eyes of God.

      •  You mean, shut down the important business (6+ / 0-)

of the Military Commissions Act? Of more off-the-books emergency funding for wars of empire and illegal global spying? Of immunizing telecommunications companies that broke the law? Of bailing out financial megacorporate crooks? So much important business to take care of! Why would you want to put a stop to any of that?

Government and laws are the agreement we all make to secure everyone's freedom.

      •  Yabbut... they forget.... (6+ / 0-)

We who lived through that Clinton fiasco remember how short a time it took to get the impeachment process done..., and while it was happening, legislation STILL made its way through Congress.  Not all business stopped.

That whole "It'll tie up Congress and we're in the middle of a campaign!!!" (said in an hysterical tone of voice, like Nancy-impeachment-is-off-the-table Pelosi's) nonsense was a ruse to make people STFU & stop demanding impeachment.  After all, even most Democrats had voted in favor of Dumbya & Dickie's illegal and unconstitutional wars.

I never liked Edwards, and for a year or so I couldn't figure out why I didn't like him.  He had shifty little beady eyes that zipped back and forth in their sockets and his tongue kept zipping in and out of his mouth like a snake's as he stumbled with searching for the "right" words to say if he didn't have a pat memorized answer.  Those were his lying "tells," as I figured out after a while.
