    When you and other reasonable people  think about "religious persecution," They think about the Spanish Inquisition, etc....

    What you fail to notice is that when they think of religious persecution, its about them not being able to persecute others for not being of their particular brand/sect/sub-sub sect of religion and not much more.

    Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.

      It's not being allowed to do the things that don't rise to that level but assert power anyway.

      Like not being able to sing Christmas religious-themed music in public school. That was actually caused by a Baptist versus Catholics fight where I grew up, and within five years everyone involved was crying persecution over the mutual decision to skip the holiday music unit.

      And they'll make persecution up. It took an ALCU information page for me to learn I had the right to bring a Bible for private use onto public school property. My church had taught otherwise and cried persecution about it my entire childhood.
