immediate reaction was "This is terrible" after first making a sound I cannot spell.

The person she spoke to was very helpful, entering in information that we had already tried to enter and then  ---

running into a problem and telling us to call back in half an hour.

    I know they're trying...

    •  Second update -- further along this time. (0+ / 0-)

We started an app over the phone and I think we would be there if we had done our homework enough to know which plan we wanted.  Unfortunately, we didn't realize when we started the call that they would actually take our application.  We thought we were just getting some help with the site.

      However --

Although there is still a glitch (that may go away overnight), we got far enough along to discover that we qualify for a subsidy, though the computer says our 17 year old daughter can't be insured on our insurance, which is more than a bit odd.

At any rate, getting closer to home.  Need to clear up the daughter and choose a plan and ...maybe... we'll be there.

        •  Thanks. (0+ / 0-)

This could be a big blessing for me and my family.

Still doesn't make it good law, but definitely not devoid of merit.

I hope it fares better than No Child Left Behind, which was never meant to be the end of the conversation on education.

          •  PS not because Ted was a liberal (0+ / 0-)

but because he was a practical guy who made adjustments and worked the legislative process to make things function.

Scott Brown was no Ted kennedy.

importance of education (and the availability of health care) that transcended "wings" and parties.

Left to his own devices, his solutions would be liberal ones.  That's what you get from liberals.

But -- and this was key -- he worked with Bush on NCLB because good solutions, or even possibly good solutions, beat a bad status quo if you are willing to roll up your sleeves and keep working.  It's the old bromide : Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  Success is great, but there's never such a thing as failure in the company of people who learn.
