  •  Kaiser and Sutter reducing number of hospital beds (1+ / 0-)

Doctors may not be quitting, but National Nurses United reports that Sutter has reduced beds in its Palm Drive hospital in Petaluma from 37 to 14.  Kaiser nurses have reported that "over the last year, Kaiser has been making it harder for patients to be admitted for hospital care when sick or injured, and is sending patients home when they should still be under hospital care."

Health care experts say they are reducing the number of beds because of reductions in Medicate and insurer reimbursements.  Apparently beds are pre-scheduled for surgical patients and people with emergency needs will be sent home.

This is the predictable result of allowing Big Medicine and Big Insurance to participate in healthcare.  The only acceptable alternative is Universal Medical Care operated by HHS without the participation of any private sector players.  Nationalize the hospitals!
