  •  darn thing looks familiar... but will it drive (9+ / 0-)

slower than the US one while still being in front, and will it pull our flag out

      the USA flag.

Perhaps entice us to go back and revisit the place, among other things - create a real sense of competition for space exploration and construction plans that's been lost over decades of Reagan-style obsession with killing the world for a minority of increasingly wealthy people to lord over the rest.

And highly irresponsible. Fortunately, I can't see anyone in the Chinese leadership doing anything anywhere near that stupid.

Flags, and for that matter nations, mean nothing to me. But they excite extreme feelings in a lot of people. I don't think the best way to promote space cooperation in the future is to waste time and incite ignorant hostility by insulting each other's national symbols in the present.

        •  "crazy" is an odd choice of insult, (0+ / 0-)

especially for a purposefully provocative, rather sarcastic post.

Still, I there happened to exist a prior race with those "godless commies" that helped spur and sustain an explosion of nationalistic+political fervor for space missions some time ago.  Animosity and ever fear among the populace was not unknown as competitive factors at the time.

It would also be rather funny and ironically symbolic if they knocked over our moon-based flag.

          Hmm . . .

      Standing On The Moon

      Standing on the moon
I got no cobweb on my shoe
      Standing on the moon
I'm feeling so alone and blue
I see the Gulf of Mexico
      As tiny as a tear
      The coast of California
Must be somewhere over here - over here

      Standing on the moon
I see the battle rage below
      Standing on the moon
I see the soldiers come and go
There's a metal flag beside me
      Someone planted long ago
      Old Glory standing stiffly
Crimson, white and indigo - indigo

I see all of Southeast Asia
      I can see El Salvador
I hear the cries of children
And the other songs of war
      It's like a mighty melody
That rings down from the sky
      Standing here upon the moon
I watch it all roll by - all roll by

      Standing on the moon
      With nothing else to do
      A lovely view of heaven
But I'd rather be with you

      Standing on the moon
I see a shadow on the sun
      Standing on the moon
The stars go fading one by one
I hear a cry of victory
      And another of defeat
      a scrap of age-old lullaby
      Down some forgotten street

      Standing on the moon
Where talk is cheap and vision true
      Standing on the moon
But I would rather be with you
      Somewhere in San Francisco
On a back porch in July
      Just looking up to heaven
At this crescent in the sky

      Standing on the moon
      With nothing left to do
      A lovely view of heaven
But I'd rather be with you - be with you
