  •  Short ribs tonight, no pressure cooking involved. (5+ / 0-)

    A winter meal for a wintry day. Ribs marinated overnight in red wine, browned, braised at 200 in the oven for 6+ hours in a mix of veal stock (no beef stock in pantry, snowing too hard to go to store), pomegranate juice and some of the red wine. And the typical mirepoix and seasonings. Served with mashed potatoes, steamed green beans and a 2008 Cabernet from L'Ecole No. 41. Dessert consists of the chocolate chip cookies the girls baked this afternoon. Now watching the snow fall down...
