    chance in hell of happening.

if people are enraged by the truth, then i can't help that.  i cannot make anyone see the truth any more than anyone else can dissuade me of facts.

    •  Keep making (4+ / 0-)

the "embrace the suck" arguments.  Every time you do you make hearts grow a bit colder, a bit harder.  Every time you do you depress voter turnout a bit more.  These clap louder arguments do more damage than Nader or any critic every did.  Partisans have only one option: the defense and promotion of acceptable candidates and policy.  If they don't do that it's their own damn fault if no one shows up.

      •  you have not answered my question. it is simple. (2+ / 0-)

give me an alternative that can pass muster or get through congress.

until you do, you are the one depressing the vote.

i have offered alternatives. the alternative that has the most effect is getting out and campaigning and putting democrats in the house and senate in greater numbers than the republicans.

so WHAT if a few of them are DINOS - with the numbers, WE control the agenda - the speaker of the house and the committee chairs and the agenda that gets put forward to be voted on - otherwise, we get stagnation and obstruction.

we get enough people in the senate to override any DINOS and control the committees and what is brought to the floor.

UNTIL we do that, we are simply in the way.

so, don't lecture ME about "depressing" any vote - i'm out there busting my ass getting people registered, talking til i'm blue in the face with EVERY person i encounter where EVER i go - from gas stations, coffee shops, facebook, here, at the barn, online or off - i'm trying to friggin' educate people how this system works.

what i DON'T expect is to have to waste my breath on a democratic site dedicated to electing MORE and better democrats (instead of opening the door for friggin' republicans to take over the seats we have and keep control of the house and take over the senate, too.

i fucking CARE about what happens in this nation in 1,5,10,20 years from now and i'm working long term.  short term "feel good" rants don't make a damned bit of difference in that goal.

now, get real and get to work to make change happen.  it doesn't happen by squawking on a blog or complaining to the choir.  it takes work by every single one of us - even if we have to hold our noses on SOME issues to get the long term goal accomplished!

is in this diary.  You're just another officer trying to cover such things up so nothing gets done.  The alternative lies in primarying the hell out of these bastards.

      •  no. it doesn't. when a primary fight is (1+ / 0-)

not winnable and it uses the financial resources available to beat the better funded republican, then it is a futile effort.

AFTER we have a secure majority (and it IS the numbers, period!) THEN we can think of primarying dinos.

until then, it is simply shooting oneself in the foot and then blaming the doctor when it has to be amputated.
