  •  From what elfling said, not yet. Whether you (3+ / 0-)

hr or not, retag the diary as Spam, and that lets her spot it for removal.

At least half the future I've been expecting hasn't gotten here yet. Sigh.... (Yes, there's gender bias in my name; no, I wasn't thinking about it when I signed up. My apologies.)

    •  That's what I've been doing... (5+ / 0-)

      When I come across them.

If no one has removed the spam diarist's diary-related tags, or if only the 'Spam' tag has been added to those diary-related tags, I clear them, leaving only the 'Spam' tag remaining.

If it's the hidden link type, and I'm the first to come across it, I'll add, in addition to the single 'Spam' tag, another separate tag that says 'hidden link spam,' to clue in others who might think the diary is legitimate and wrongly HR'd.

      •  The old way was a 'Spam' tag and a comment. (2+ / 0-)

The new way is hide the first comment.

        •  Well, of course I do that, too. (0+ / 0-)

If the tip jar is short on the number of HRs required to ban the spammer.

With the discovery of this "hidden link" type of spam, the need to inform unwary potential tippers/recommenders in some way has presented itself on more than one occasion.

Given the very real possibility that first commenters, after the diarist's tip jar, might be inadvertently HR'd by someone wrongly thinking they're the spammer diarist because they have "show hidden comments" disabled in their settings, I've opted for the addition of that "heads-up" tag, rather than posting a comment.

Getting wrongly HR'd on more than one occasion tends to make a person modify their approach.

i'll keep reading more; read logged off first, earlier, at work.

          "any" first comment ? or
          "the diarist's first comment" ?

guardian-uk had story about space vases:
well, 'mystery urns that appear to have been designed by aliens.' (preceded by an odd auto ad)]

and a great SantaCom pic of a turkey costume:
santa AND a turkey. (i believe it's ante-oven, based on skin tone.)

          and on BBC2 tonight 8pm, a 2010 Tron reboot.
