but my experience is that they still get blown through, but I'll take them.

When you say it is "common sense" what you are really saying is "I don't have any evidence to back up my argument", because it is quite often neither common nor sense.

    •  We have a new one at BHH & 62nd Ave (0+ / 0-)

As part of TriMet's "Be Safe, Be Seen" campaign, Bridlemile and Hayhurst have had "vigils" at this crosswalk, reminding drivers to slow down there. (Yes, some do blow through.) Trimet supplies signs, reflective vests, and bags full of little LED flashers to hand out to pedestrians.

Can't hurt.  I've started wearing a reflective sash and blinky red LED when I'm walking at night.

I can't help it. I love the state of Texas. It's a harmless perversion. - Molly Ivins

I would like to see the neighborhood assoc. do more but we do not have a very "activist" association in Powellhurst-Gilbert. :(

        •  We're rebuilding our NA (0+ / 0-)

          It almost evaporated.

Need an issue to get people interested.

Like, say, pedestrian safety!  It's still slow to get people involved.
