  •  Medicare Part D in 2006? Oh, I remember it well.. (0+ / 0-)

In January 2006, when my elderly mother tried to buy her medicines under the new Medicare Part D prescription drug insurance plan, she almost went plumb crazy trying to get her coverage initiated. And talk about passing the buck! Neither her pharmacy nor her primary care physician was able to help with the new coverage. Each one said to contact the other to resolve the issue. When she called the insurance company she chose to enroll with for her prescription drug coverage, they said they couldn't help either. It seemed as though none of the parties involved knew what to do.

NOW HERE'S THE KICKER. I finally called Medicare on my mother's behalf in an attempt to resolve the prescription drug coverage snafu, and the person I talked to said SHE DIDN'T KNOW EXACTLY HOW THE NEW PROGRAM WAS SUPPOSED TO WORK EITHER. I shit you not. It was so frustrating for my mom, and luckily, she has family to look after her business needs. Still, try telling an elderly woman that the new plan wasn't operational yet, and then ask her to pony up $900 for her drugs that month. It was truly a debacle.

And conservatives have the nerve to call for the repeal of Obamacare, based on problems with the website and roll-out. You've got to hand it to them though. Those Tea Party Republicans have more balls than the proverbial brass monkey.
