Towards the end of the second season they have an episode that deals with abortion quite directly. Quick plot summary: Abortion was legal in the pre-war society, and implicitly remains so. However, humanity is down to about 50,000 people, and the pro-choice President decides to outlaw abortion based on the fact that they need all the children they can get. The character who brought the issue to the front proceeds to have an abortion and nothing bad happens to her, but there will be no more legal ones.

The whole topic then becomes an issue in the forthcoming Presidential election, with the asshole/collaborator Vice-President running as a pro-choice candidate against his President. While this is superficially an anti-choice plot development, I think that the details of how it plays out show much more nuance than you normally see.

Overall the show is amazingly well written, so I recommend it to you if you haven't already seen it.
