  •  What's especially horrifying to me (9+ / 0-)

Is that Tilicum was kept alive even after Dawn's death. I had always assumed that he was euthanized - a belief that became stronger as I watched "Blackfish" and learned about the previous trainers he had killed.

It would have been the right thing to do, and the most merciful, to have euthanized him. But how can values like that stand up to the power of the almighty dollar? Tilicum is still performing and bringing in $ for Seaworld; only now he's confined even more closely and for longer periods of time that he was before.

Unreal. A never-ending hell on earth for him, and an unmitigated tragedy for everyone but Seaworld.

    •  Many of the most concerned former trainers have (4+ / 0-)

expressed that they'd prefer to see him in a large floating sea pen of some sort.

He isn't really bringing in cash by performing anyway. It's his semen they want.

    •  Why is murder always (0+ / 0-)

"merciful" amongst "progressives". It's .. disgusting.

Tell me.. should we euthanise the aged, the mentally ill, the seriously ill?

Or is it maybe that people are less concerned about the other being than they are about having to know that beings life is less optimal. Ie "merciful euthanasia" is really all about "mercy" to the person calling for it. When your mother/sister/son develop aids/cancer/etc and face a life of pain and struggle.... will we call for their "merciful euthanasia" too?
