  •  I fall through the cracks too. (6+ / 0-)

No medicaid expansion in Florida, and I don't qualify for medicaid even with two kids. Why? Because how healthcare.gov and how Florida Medicaid determine eligibility are two completely different things. According to healthcare.gov, my only income is my child support of $300 per month,, and they discount child support payments, which puts it effectively at $0. According to the state it includes my other half's SSI payments and Caedy's income (room mate) because it goes by the entire household. Healthcare.gov goes by who you file for on your taxes. If the state determined income the same way the federal site does, I'd qualify.

Too many Republicans. I believe this is my situation too. Michigan does things differently and Healthcare.gov can't do anything about that.

You may well be right, but I suggest running this by a Florida Navigator before giving up.

According to Healthcare.gov my income is at most 300. I've got a current application in for food stamps and medicaid. I qualify for "Medically Needy" with a $886 'buy in'. Governor Voldemort turned down expansion, nothing is changing in January. But if by some miracle it does, I have an open case/application and I'll be pleasantly surprised.
