morning folks! (although teh kiddo has lobbied for at least one prezzie on the Eve, Dad has never relented!)

We usually collect our tree immediately after my birthday on Dec 4. Gives us 3 weeks to clean it, move house, put up & dec. tree, etc. Then it stays up at least until New Year's Day.

During the 3 weeks (Dec 4-25) we watch a lot of DVD Christmas movies, i.e. Hogfather, Die Hard, Rare Exports, Grinch & Charlie Brown tonite, Wish for Wings that Work, BlackAdder Christmas, Alastair Sim Christmas Carol, etc., etc. Also have a few days of no TV, just xmas music!

Sometime in this last week, all the present-y stuff will be here and we'll spend an evening or two wrapping and stuffing under the tree.

Christmas Eve - no churchy stuff, but we do watch the local PBS "Yule Log" all evening. Then "stealthy" scurrying around in the almost-dark of just-tree-lights (on the way to bed) putting out Santa presents & last-minute filled stockings. Kiddo has been inducted into the "Santa is the spirit of giving" adult club the last few years, so he helps too, now.

Christmas Day - We do a big-for-us breakfast (bacon, some kind of biscuit or roll, rather than just tea and cereal), then open presents. Then get dressed, start cooking. Our guest arrives around the time turkey finishes, visiting, eating, etc. After the meal we all refrigerate the dangerous stuff, do SOME table clearing and repair to LR to watch the Christmas Doctor Who offering. Desserts on laps as we watch. Lots of conversation. SOMETIMES Scrabble. Then pack off the guest who will get to sleep in on Boxing Day after an exhausting month of musical gigs (wire-strung Celtic harp, OR ME dance music)

Boxing Day - we will hide at home, play with loot, read, NOT DRIVE!
