    for profit prisons. In order to meet the 80%-100% fill level they contract to prisons for in certain states.

    My understanding was that if the parent did not have a job they did not pay child support and the amount they paid was based on a % of the actual amount made in any given month.  like 20-30% based on pay level.

    I learned this from my father who was not a deadbeat. he went out of his way and borrowed money from his father to pay my child support when dad did not have any work back in the 80's in MN.

    I specifically remember dad telling me when I got older that you were only required to pay if you ACTUALLY had a job and it was limited to a top% of total income for that month.
    This ensured that it would not be counter productive by avoiding taking too much of the parents money that their health suffered because they didn't have any money left to care for themselves.
