We need to make sure that we're offering these people a progressive Democratic candidate in every election from President down to Register of Wills. A full mobilization effort to get these folks to the polls and voting for progressive candidates is the only way we're every going to really get them any help.

...in the White House.  Not to mention running both houses of Congress for 2009 and 2010.  Where did that get us?
We need proven executives and managers that can make things work.  Feel good politicians like our President and his administration can't get the job done.

back in the days when he was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. His supporters have always been disappointed in him because he hasn't lived up to the hype as the great transformational progressive, while his opponents have attempted to label him as a dangerous, revolutionary leftist. Yet he has governed as a pragmatic centrist, and always has. Sadly I believe it's primarily the pigment of his skin, and secondarily his exalted rhetoric which colors our perception of who he is. The reality is President Obama is a centrist; to the dismay of supporters and to the relief of opponents- although neither will ever want to admit this.

The price of anything is the amount of life we are willing to exchange for it.

        •  Actually, I would call him more of a corporatist. (0+ / 0-)

Yet he identifies himself as a socialist, even to the extent of joining a socialist party early in his career.  I wonder who backed him off of that, and what influence that they have now in his administration?
