One day when I was 9 I brought home this ever-so-cool little pale yellow tent-shaped object about the size of a quarter.  I'd found the thing attached to a tree. I thought it would hatch out into a moth or something. It sat in my room over the winter and then one day it hatched out into what looked to my screaming mother like a slowly expanding series of black concentric circles that covered the whole room.  I heroically got the bug spray and killed the horrible thing, which turned out to consist of about 10000000000000 tiny little praying mantises. I still feel guilty about the whole thing, as praying mantises are beneficial and eat rabid dogs, or something like that.
