    But here is the deal.  It seems to me that progressives need to:

    *  pursue policy that works for the poorest and most vulnerable in the US
    *  be reality based
    *  handle nuance
    *  keep working at forward looking goals

    ACA expands Medicaid, bypassing insurance companies while delivering availability to the poorest in the US.  We're close to 2 million now for how many are either signed up or declared as automatic enrollees by their states.  It will help many millions more.  Thanks to the Roberts court most red states go wanting.

    The sad reality is that corporations own Congress, even many Dems.  Nobody who cares about health policy designed it this way because they like it.  And there were thousands of excellent people working on it.  So "not well thought out" doesn't come into it.

    ACA is so complex.  There are a lot of good details in the law.  Read McDonough's "Inside National Health Reform".  Look at how ACA is paid for.  For the first time ever, taxes on investment income of the wealthy is being used to help fund Medicare.

    ACA opened to door to help make single payer easier.  Vermont is already on the way Massachusetts and California may not be far behind.  This is a good time for us to join those organizations in our own states who are pushing for single payer and more more states to the next level.  Let's go on to the next battle and win that one.
