Already doing much. Donations, dozens of letters to the editor,  and spreading the word to inspire others:

And that is on top of writing a Progressive Democrat newsletter, organizing a meeting to bring together labor and neighborhood groups to discuss development in NYC, petitioning for a few of my favorite candidates, etc.

It does make me feel better, but I still feel like I am paddling upstream while most of the nation sits back and lets the nation just wash away.

    •  Just worried a little about you (none)
You probably feel that way (paddling feeling) because you are most of the time.

It seems as most of the things you are doing are solitary and hard work. Obviously you should be congratulated on all of them (and I do congratulate you). But you should be careful not to start to think that you are the only one working or that we should all be doing the exact same thing.

What I'm suggesting is you do something fun with a few others.  Not with the hope of changing minds or the world, just to enjoy the moment.

Maybe try Drinking Liberally to spend some fun time with others.

Or maybe even take a few days off from everything even reading the blogs gasp. Just don't burn out or become so disillusioned that you give up or you fail to see that you aren't alone.

Straw Man (homo calami) - when you don't feel like arguing against someone's actual points just assign them new and easier ones to dispute

        Good advice!

Usually I am the one publicizing Drinking Liberally to people...but since I have a baby and a non-drinking spouse, I don't actually go to their meetings.

It is true that between work, family, politics and a desperate job hunt, fun isn't happening much right about now.

Part of my problem is that I know enough history to know that what is happening in America these days is really quite frightening and quite dangerous...similar to the situaiton in 1920's Germany, the transition of ancient Rome from Republic to Empire, etc. I can't let it happen without a fight.

Thanks for the concern! I will try to find a few minutes to relax : -)
