    it matters if it is a slippery slope.  As long as everyone is a consenting adult who are we to define what their relationships look like.

      the criminal statute, but i don't see a case for formal recognition of polygamy, and the power differentials with multiple partners seems like a valid reason against.  Arguments that a state has an interest in promoting monogamy apply just as well to same sex and opposite marriage, and there's no real protected class in need of higher strutiny as there is with same sex couples, who under existing law should be entitled to minimum rational basis plus for classifications affecting them.  

      The notion that marriage equality is about withholding judgment on private behavior is a big naive -- it's validating gays and lesbians who want "respectability," and I have no problem with that.  

      Difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.
