      Though naturally there may be regional/cultural/generational/etc variations. And of course someone who's been consciously thinking about this sort of thing for decades will have a more nuanced view than someone who's new to the idea.

      When the word "identity' is used in dialog, you run the risk of people assuming the conversation is about an immutable core Self, which is a common cultural concept. "Identifier" avoids that problem, as well as introducing the concept of fluidity to people who may not have considered it before.

        was formed in my background in psychology and social work. I think that is a pretty good source of information. I see no problem with the way that the diarist is using the term here.
